Dear Theresa A. Mike Scholarship Foundation,
I am writing to sincerely thank you for the academic scholarship I have been awarded for the 2019-2020 school year for $1,250. I am beyond grateful for the contribution you’ve made to the furtherance of my education. I consider my schooling to be the most important, life-changing investment I will ever make. The support you have provided me along this journey is appreciated beyond measure. The experiences I am having now as an undergraduate student are molding me into the person I am meant to become. By providing me with this scholarship, your foundation is impacting my future immeasurably.
I plan on receiving a BFA in Modern Dance along with an Honors BA in Ethnic Studies. Having the opportunity to double major in these two fields is a dream come true for me. As a committed dancer, performer, and artist and I hope to someday be able to dance professionally in a contemporary dance company. My interest in Ethnic Studies has been spurred by my passion for the American Indian population. As a member of the Pauma Band of Luiseno Mission Indians, my tribal community is an important part of who I am. Using my education and experiences, I hope to be able to make a positive impact within tribal communities across the nation. I aspire to attend graduate school following my time at the University of Utah and acquire a degree in either education or law. I consider myself to be extremely fortunate to be able to study dance and topics involving American Indian studies as they are both strong passions of mine.
Thanks to the contribution you have so generously provided, my dreams of being a dancer and earning a college education are becoming more of a reality. Without charitable donations like yours, many students such as myself would miss the opportunity to cultivate our skills and broaden our horizons in a university setting. My appreciation for your generosity cannot be expressed enough. Thank you again for your support as I pursue my academic and artistic dreams.
With grateful regards,
Talia Katherine Dixon
